Well, I've waited a week to share this, to verify an amazing move of God during our morning worship at the Highway Church, last Sunday. An hour or so into worship, Chris exclaimed, "I'm sitting here and realise that for the first time in 15 years, I'm totally pain free. God has healed me!"
Chris had a bowel tumour removed 15 years ago. Because of many complications, he did not leave the hospital for 12 months. It left him with severe, ongoing pain in his neck and upper back, which he had to manage through powerful pain-killers. About a year ago, he fell over in a public bus and damaged his lower back, resulting in constant shooting pain which he described as much worse than the ones he had learnt to live with.
To his credit, Chris neither spoke much nor complained. He simply got on as best he could with life. We met him about 6 months ago, when he started coming to the Highway. In this time, we've seen him come alive in faith in Jesus; so much so that in spite of severe pain, he has sought every opportunity to make it to various times of fellowship and meeting, because he so enjoys the presence of the Lord, amongst God's people. We've stood with him in prayer, for healing.
Last week was especially bad for Chris, pain-wise. Yet he still managed on the Saturday morning to make it to an introductory gym session, because he wanted to work on his rehab! That evening, he started to feel his body get warm and he couldn't sleep much. Sunday morning, the warmth had increased, and as he arrived at the Highway for Sunday worship, he started to feel waves of warmth sweeping through him. The closest he could relate this to was when at an Alpha Holy Spirit weekend he had felt a similar warm "wave" washing him. This was a lot more intense. No one else knew it was happening. And no one prayed with him, at the time. We simply engaged in worship, as did Chris.
Which was when it happened ...! He's been free of all pain-killers since last Sunday and walks an inch or two taller! Thank you Jesus! How good is the Lord!
